XT4 Platform.
The XT4 is a premium, professional, high-competition 1/10 electric truggy for the most demanding racers, developed with attention to detail and backed by premium service.
Chassis.
The chassis features a more forward biased layout. The center differential, motor and battery were moved significantly forward to increase stability. The side guard mounting holes are now symmetrical for equal left-to-right flex characteristics.
The chassis features holes for a fan mount and multiple battery post positions to alter the pack’s location and adjust the F/R weight balance.
The chassis is an important component that contributes to the XT4’s handling, traction, and steering characteristics. The chassis is machined for extra clearance under the bulkheads to accommodate the new HS bulkhead diff height adjustment.
CNC-machined from high-quality Swiss 2mm 7075 T6 aluminum, the chassis is strategically machined in low-stress areas to make it as light as possible without affecting strength or rigidity; and it is additionally black-coated for increased lifespan.
Bulkheads.
The front & rear bulkheads feature a horizontal split design (HS) to retain easy diff access while adding the valuable new diff height adjustment.
The unique design of the bulkheads uses an inline bushing to alter the alignment and height of the bevel drive gear. In addition to accommodating the new diff height adjustments, it also allows the front central driveshaft to operate with a reduced angle for less friction and wear on the CV joint components and improved driveline efficiency.
The XT4 bulkheads allow fast and easy differential access for setup changes or servicing by removing only 4 screws from the upper gear box cover while the lower section remains mounted to the chassis. This super-fast diff access is featured on both front and rear gearboxes.
The super-strong, narrow bulkheads provide the needed clearance for the redesigned suspension holders with expanded set-up possibilities.
Diff height adjustment.
The front & rear HS bulkheads incorporate a diff height adjustment using eccentric bushings. In the front gearbox, the diff height has 3 possible settings. The rear differential can be adjusted through a 5mm range. The diff height is a valuable adjustment that allows for quick set-up adaption.
Center Drive Train.
The design of the HS bulkhead’s inline bushing for the bevel drive gear keeps the gear properly matched to the diff height position. It also creates a more linear orientation for the front center drive shaft, reducing the CV joint angle for increased efficiency and decreased friction and wear. The height of the rear center drive gear is also adjustable to match the height adjustment of the differential.
Front – there are 3 different angle configurations for adjustment of the front drive train.
Rear – there are 6 different height configurations for adjustment of the rear drive train.
Diff Gears.
The new pinion gear is shorter to move CV joint closer to the differential, reducing the driveshaft angle and improving drive train efficiency.
Both crown gear and pinion gear are CNC-machined from HUDY Spring Steel and are ultra-hardened making them very strong and reliable with a longer life span. The split crown gear allows for a simpler change to optional gears without rebuilding the internal diff assembly and results in significantly lower rotating mass and improves the serviceability.
To improve the gear engagement both crown gear and pinion gear have more teeth and new geometry that results in smoother engagement and increased efficiency.
Diff Gears.
The new split design of the gear differential features a separate lightweight crown gear and a separate diff cover. The split design results in significantly lower rotating mass and improves the serviceability.
The crown gear is now CNC-machined from HUDY Spring Steel and is ultra-hardened to improve strength and reliability. The split crown gear allows for a simpler exchange to optional gears without requiring a rebuild of the internal diff assembly.
To improve the gear engagement both crown gear and pinion gear have more teeth and new geometry that results in smoother engagement and increased efficiency.
Chassis Layout.
The new chassis layout was tested on all kind of surfaces to increase performance in every track situation. The center drive train and battery were significantly moved forwards compared to previous layouts.
Moving the weight balance to the front increases the stability and predictability on the track. Now the XT4 can be driven much harder and is more forgiving, which results in fewer mistakes and faster lap times.
Chassis Braces.
The optional front chassis t-brace increases front stability on high traction tracks, making the XT4 more predictable and easier to drive. The rear graphite chassis brace is installed over the lower composite brace connected directly to the chassis. The graphite brace reinforces the rear chassis structure and provides more stability and traction as well.
The chassis braces are a vital part of the Multi-Flex™ adjustability.
Central Dogbone Drive Shafts.
The central drivetrain features new outdrives and dogbone driveshafts with longer lifespan and easier maintenance than previous CVD drive shafts. To accommodate chassis flex and also eliminate any excess play, O-rings are inserted inside the outdrives to support the driveshafts and avoid damage from large impacts.
Drive shafts are manufactured from world-renowned HUDY Spring Steel™ and feature 2.5mm drive pins for maximum drivetrain efficiency. The drive shafts are some of the world‘s thinnest yet most durable drive shafts used in electric off-road vehicles. Treated with a proprietary hardening process, the drive shafts provide unbeatable lifespan and reliability.
